Albert Schweitzer Museum is dedicated to the life and work of Albert Schweitzer, the famous humanitarian, philosopher and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and offers accommodation for visitors.
The museum showcases Schweitzer's contributions to medicine, music, philosophy, as well as his efforts to promote peace and understanding between different cultures. It also preserves his former home and hospital, where he provided medical care to the local community for more than 50 years. The museum offers visitors a glimpse into Schweitzer's remarkable legacy and the impact he had on the world.
Lambaréné is well known for its fishing activity, during your stay in this historic town, take the opportunity to visit these artisanal fishermen engaged in this activity, and get some good fresh or dried fish at affordable costs. Arrive at Libreville Airport
Rent a 4x4 type vehicle or take a public bus transport for a journey of 158 km (4 hours) to the town of Lambaréné where Albert Schweitzer Homestay is based.
Tsam Tsam village:
During your stay in Albert Schweitzer homestay and your experience in the town of Lambaréné, you may take a 2 hours boat to reached Tsam Tsam village where you will have the opportunity to spend 3 days/2 nights experiencing the local culture, seeing wildlife and supporting sustainable agriculture and fishing projects implemented by local communities through OELO.
️Mission SINDARA:
Created in 1971, and located between Lambaréné and Fagoumou, precisely at 1h40 minutes from Lambaréné, SINDARA MISSION is a former slave market. The central building with arcades, characteristic of Spanish architecture, will be built in the middle of the 20th century. It was abandoned towards the end of the 1970s, for 20 years, before being re-inverted at the beginning of 2000, by volunteers. Today, the SINDARA mission houses a college with a boarding school for boys.
