La Coopérative Agricole Sékiani et Iwosso (SCOOPS CASI) uses traditional and sustainable methods of farming to preserve the environment, create employment opportunities for women, and offers authentic meal experience to travellers who enjoy locally grown food.

Eating local considerably support sustainable farming practices by reducing the use of pesticides and fertilizers, reduce carbon emissions because people travel less distance to get these foods on their table, reduce food wast, increase food security.

Local Traditions in Food for Conservation and Sustainable Development

Promoting local know-how through traditional cooking food, artisanal fishing, and craftsmanship are activities in which communities of SCOOPS CASI cooperative are involved, as a way for environment conservation and sustainable development.

Through “Les Petits Exploitants Agricoles et Pêcheurs GARDIENS de la Baie de la Mondah” project, more than 15 men and women from SCOOPS CASI were trained in sustainable cooking techniques, sustainable artisanal fishing, tourism, and the management of income generating activities, leading to the creation of a craft village in Iwosso village, and two traditional catering reception areas in Sékiani and Iwosso villages.

Engaged to expanding their traditional cooking food and craftsmanship activities by applying what they have to learn to not only increase their revenus, but also to protect the environment, these communities from SCOOPS CASI seek more technical and financial support to achieve their economic goals and better protect the environment, they offer traditional food cooking experiences, walking or boat mangrove visit, and craftsmanship learning experience to visitors, and the opportunity to CO-RESTORERS of nature who are urban dwellers from any part of the world who are concerned about climate change and wish to restore vital ecosystems without leaving their jobs, families and countries to support this eco-action by sending their financial support.

This traditional cooking experiences organised by women of Sekiani, Iwosso, Mabosso, Koubou Koubou, Sifala and Valayem villages is incredibly rewarding, connecting you to culture, heritage, and the joys of preparing meals from scratch. Whether it's learning family recipes passed down through generations or participating in cooking classes focusing on traditional cuisines, there's something special about the process of creating food with history and meaning.

Local craftsmanship is a cultural activity passed down from generations to generations, that women of Sékiani and Iwosso villages want to preserve by promoting their different products, such as baskets, chandeliers, and many other souvenirs for tourists.
